The Job Role:

To lead and support a team of Essential Skills Tutors to deliver high quality Essential Skills qualifications to learners undertaking Work Based Learning Apprenticeships

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that robust Internal Quality Assurance and best practice processes are in place and are followed consistently in line with Cambrian Trainings internal quality assurance strategy. 
  • Leading the IQA activity within the Essential Skills team by holding Standardisation activities, working with the awarding bodies and liaising with the EQA’s.
  • Support the business, learners, and employers in achieving a timely and high success rate through continuous improvement practices
  • Work with the wider business to monitor management information to identify learners at risk of not achieving in a timely manner and ensure that appropriate and timely actions are implemented to support achievement.
  • Carry out observation of teaching, learning and assessment in line with Estyn‘s Education Inspection Framework and internal quality assurance practices.
  • Develop and identify resources that can be used to support the ESW tutors with their learners, particularly learners with ALN.
  • Provide day to day support to the Essential skills tutors and coach and mentor new members of staff.
  • Chair regular team meetings to communicate information and develop good team relationships
  • Hold regular caseload reviews with ESW tutors to identify any issues and help to resolve them.
  • Work closely with the HBU’s in the delivery teams to ensure good communication and positive working relationships
  • Maintain accurate records and provide updates to Senior Management and Directors as an when required
  • Delivery of Essential Skills Qualification to a reduced caseload of learners to maintain occupational competency 
  • Any other duties as requested by the Business Unit Manager

The Person: 

You will be a well organised individual with excellent communication and IT skills, having a confident approach to working through a digital medium. An ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team meeting set timescales. TAQA qualifications are desirable as is the ability to speak through the mediums of both English and Welsh. You will have an ambition for continuous professional development and will be required to self-register as a Work Based Learning Practitioner with the Educational Workforce Council.  A current full valid driving licence and own transport is essential.

An Enhanced DBS Disclosure will be required at the employer’s expense.
