Waste Management could be defined as the collection, transport and disposal, and the final management of waste and recyclables, including the supervision of such operations, and after care of disposal sites, including actions taken as a broker and dealer.

At Cambrian Training, we can offer Waste & Recycling Management apprenticeships to suit all areas of the industry from foundation level to higher apprenticeship level across Wales. Learning through apprenticeships can help staff develop practical skills that are essential to create a successful career in the industry.

Our Waste & Recycling Management apprenticeship programmes will give you all the skills you need to succeed in the industry.

Opportunities for apprentices are available where businesses are open to both new entrance & non-furloughed employees.

The core activities within the industry are:

  • Waste collection and transport
  • Transfer stations, Household Waste & Recycling Centres
  • Energy from waste (including thermal recovery processes and anaerobic digestion)
  • Recycling, processing and specialist operations
  • Landfill

According to RecycleNow, UK recycling saves more than 18 million tonnes of carbon dioxide a year – equivalent to taking 5 million cars off the road.

Training and Apprenticeships

Training in the waste management and recycling industry is delivered in a wide range of forms. The Qualification Credit Framework provides a simple and rational framework that presents learner achievement and qualifications in a way that is easy to understand, measure and compare.

It aims to give individuals the opportunity to learn in a more flexible way and enables a wider range of organisations, including employers, to have their training recognised. Cambrian Training is an approved centre with WAMITAB for the delivery of training in Sustainable Resource Management & Recycling.
