WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are looking to recruit a highly skilled Training Officer to join our growing Hospitality learning delivery team. The ideal candidate will have experience in the hospitality industry and specifically professional cookery, be able to teach and develop apprentices who themselves are employed within this sector. Self-motivation, enthusiasm, independence and teamwork are a must for the role, along with good interpersonal and communication skills. You will be working directly with employers and apprentices of all ages so the ability to motivate individuals and support them in achieving agreed goals must be one of your attributes, possessing excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with a drive to succeed. Ultimately you will gain a huge amount of job satisfaction through teaching your apprentices and achieving their hospitality apprenticeships Levels 2 to 4. You can expect to deliver teaching and learning in the workplace day to day, passing on your knowledge and experience as well as undertaking assessments, assisting candidates in preparing their portfolio of evidence and carrying out progression reviews. Similarly, you will support learners to improve their literacy, numeracy and digital skills, and promote the use of the Welsh Language wherever possible. It is a requirement to have access to your own transport as travel is critical to the position.

YOU SHOULD:

  • Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in Hospitality
  • Have a minimum of 3 years experience working as a Chef
  • Have excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Hold 706 1&2 / Professional cookery 2&3 / (desirable, not essential)
  • Have a good level of IT skills and ability to learn new software
  • Hold D32/D33, TAQA or A1 Assessor award.
  • Hold GCSE A* C / 9 – 4 in English and Maths or Level 2 equivalent (desirable, not essential)
  • The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Delivering effective teaching and learning to a caseload of learners in the workplace
  • Development of learner’s skills, knowledge and understanding
  • Plan and carry out assessments to meet the needs of qualification, including in person and online
  • Maintenance of learner records of assessment and progress
  • Engaging with potential employers and learners to identify new opportunities
  • Working with other departments within Cambrian Training to ensure the learner is able to complete their apprenticeship programme in a timely manner

Apprentice Butcher (Three Vacancies) 1-3 Flannel Street, Abergavenny, NP7 5EG and Newhall Farm Shop, Pwllmeyric, Chepstow NP16 6LF And 1 Long Meadow Industrial Estate, Ewyas Harold, Hereford HR2 0UA Daily Duties:
  • Assisting the butchery team with all aspects of butchery production, packing and cleaning.
  • Preparing meat and products for sale
  • Assisting with butchery displays and ensuring signage are accurate and attractive
  • General retail duties
  • Greeting and speaking to customers, providing advice, answering questions, and accepting orders or payments.
  • Assisting in strict stock control rotation
  • Accepting deliveries of large carcass which will involve heavy lifting
  • Adhering to food safety and sanitation controls
  • Keeping work tidy area clean at all times and cleaning down at the end of each day.

Apprentice Butcher Dewi James Butchers 38 High St, Cardigan SA43 1HE Daily Duties: The daily duties will vary, but in general - cutting, packing, using machinery, preparing stock for both fridges and our display, taking and preparing orders, including invoicing and possibly delivering too, they will also be cleaning, washing, filling out HACCP paperwork. They will also be subjected to serving customers, cutting carcasses, preparing mixes for sausages, bugers, etc. All of which while learning the trade and skills to accomplish these daily tasks. Desirable Personal Qualities: The candidate must have drive to learn and want to become part of the team.  They must be able to work independently and as a team, responding to team members requests and commands. The person must have some level of knowledge retention when going through the training routine, ensuring the guidelines and lessons are not needed to be constantly repeated. Qualifications Required: No qualifications required, what is more important is the passion to learn. Welsh Language Requirements: Desirable but not essential.
