WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: We are looking to recruit a highly skilled Training Officer to work as part of our growing hospitality team. The ideal candidate will be able to teach and develop hospitality apprentices who are employed within the sector. Self-motivation, enthusiasm, independent working and team working is a must for the role, along with good interpersonal and communication skills. You will be working directly with employers and apprentices of all ages, so the ability to motivate individuals and support them in achieving agreed goals must be one of your attributes to possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have the proven ability to motivate individuals towards achieving agreed goals. Ultimately you will gain a huge amount of job satisfaction through teaching your apprentices and achieving their NVQ qualifications, levels 2 to 4. You can expect to deliver teaching and learning in the workplace on a day to day basis passing on your knowledge and experience as well as undertaking assessments, assisting candidates in the preparation of their portfolio of evidence and carrying out progression reviews. Similarly, you are expected to support learners to improve their literacy, numeracy and digital skills and promote the use of the Welsh Language wherever possible. It is a requirement to have a current valid driving licence and access to your own transport, as travel is critical to the position. You should:
  • Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience of working in the hospitality sector
  • Have experience in leading a team and supervising others (desirable, not essential)
  • Have excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Have a good level of IT skills and ability to learn new software
  • Hold D32/D33, TAQA or A1 Assessor award or willing to undertake
  • Hold GCSE A* C / 9 – 4 in English and Maths or Level 2 equivalent (desirable, not essential)
  • The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential
  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Delivering effective teaching and learning to a caseload of learners in the workplace
  • Development of learner’s skills, knowledge and understanding
  • Plan and carry out assessments to meet the needs of qualification, including in person and online
  • Maintenance of learner records of assessment and progress
  • Engaging with potential employers and learners to identify new opportunities
  • Working with other departments within Cambrian Training to ensure the learner is able to complete their apprenticeship programme in a timely manner

What we are looking for: We are looking to recruit a Graduate Software Developer to be based at our Head Office in Welshpool to support in technology operations and contractual data requirements. Helping to drive forward continuous improvement and quality in day to day operations.  Working across a variety of in-house development projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Your contributions will help build efficient and visually engaging applications that support both internal operations and customer-facing experiences. Responsible for  producing SSRS business intelligence reports from our MIS data. Main Responsibilities:
  • Deliver development work to specification and deadline
  • Assist in developing bespoke PHP/MySQL applications or similar
  • Create and maintain SSRS reports
  • Assist with weekly SQL data quality checks and reviewing data errors ensuring accurate data on our MIS system
  • Support and maintain the company’s in-house web applications
  • Ensuring best practices are used for software development in order to have reliable, secure, efficient, and maintainable web applications
  • Any other duties as requested by the Information Technology and Management Information Analyst
  • Collaborating with business stakeholders to gather system design and functional requirements
 General
  • Work safely, consider the safety of others and work within the guidelines stated in the Company’s Health and Safety Policy.
  • Ensure the security of all Company assets and data
  • Work flexibly, to accommodate the fluctuations in data processing
  • Represent Cambrian Training at a local and national level to ensure public/provider confidence and maintaining professional integrity and reputation.
  • Provide information and intelligence to support the preparation of reports and briefings to the board and other governing bodies.
  • To comply with the Company’s Safeguarding policies at all times

  • To support the organisations core values
  • Attend any relevant training / personal development programmes
Knowledge, skills and abilities: Essential
  • A degree in Computer Science or similar
  • Competence with PHP, HTML and CSS
  • Understanding of MySQL or MS SQL databases and SQL queries
  • Excellent problem solving skills with a keen eye for detail
  • A willingness to learn new digital tools and develop personal skills
Desirable     
  • Experience in deploying web applications with AWS
  • Experience with the Linux terminal command line interface
  • An understanding of RESTful APIs and backend development
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and modern frameworks (React, Vue, or similar)
  • A Valid UK driving licence would be advantageous but not essential
